Rodney McGruder DET SG
Pistons' Rodney McGruder: Re-signs with Detroit
24m agoMcGruder agreed to a contract extension with the Pistons on Monday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
McGruder will be staying in Detroit for at least one more season, as the Kansas State product tallied 5.4 points and 2.2 assists across 51 games played last year. The 2022-23 season will mark the guard's third straight with the Pistons. McGruder's new deal is reportedly for one year.
-
Carsen Edwards DET PG
Carsen Edwards: Signs with Turkish club
2d agoEdwards signed a one-year contract with Turkish club Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul on Sunday.
Edwards will make the jump to Europe after he struggled to gain much traction as an NBA player since being selected early in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft. The 5-foot-11 guard proved to be one of the G League's most dynamic scorers during the 2019-20 and 2021-22 campaigns, but he averaged only 3.7 points (on 36.4 percent shooting from the field), 1.1 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 9.8 minutes over 72 appearances across the last three seasons with the Celtics and Pistons.
-
Armoni Brooks TOR PG
Armoni Brooks: Waived by Toronto
2d agoBrooks was waived by the Raptors on Saturday, Blake Murphy of The Athletic reports.
The Raptors wanted to open up another training camp spot. Brooks appeared in 54 games last season between the Rockets and Raptors, averaging 5.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 15.6 minutes.
-
Collin Gillespie DEN PG
Nuggets' Collin Gillespie: Out indefinitely
3d agoGillespie will be out indefinitely after suffering a lower left leg fracture earlier in the week, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports.
Gillespie has already undergone surgery as a result of the injury. He recently signed with the Nuggets as an undrafted free agent. The point guard was hoping to earn a roster spot during training camp, but he will now have to refocus his sights on his recovery.
-
Ryan Rollins GS G
Warriors' Ryan Rollins: Strikes deal with Golden State
3d agoRollins (foot) agreed Thursday on a three-year, $4.76 million contract with the Warriors, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
The No. 44 overall pick in June's draft was unable to participate in Summer League play for the Warriors after he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right foot shortly after being selected, but it won't deter Golden State from guaranteeing the first two years of his deal. Rollins' availability for the start of training camp is up in the air.
-
Zavier Simpson OKC PG
Magic's Zavier Simpson: Joins Orlando
3d agoSimpson and the Magic agreed on a contract Friday, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports.
Simpson made his NBA debut last season on a 10-day contract with the Thunder at the end of the year. He saw an absurd 43.5 minutes per game in four appearances and averaged 11.0 points, 7.5 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks as OKC tanked down the stretch. He was also part of OKC's G League team, where he averaged 14.6 points, 6.5 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 32.4 minutes across 35 regular-season appearances. With the Magic, he'll join the team for camp but will presumably be a staple with the G League team in Lakeland.
-
Nick Richards CHA C
Hornets' Nick Richards: Strong rebounding in Vegas
4d agoRichards averaged 14.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.0 assists in 23.7 minutes throughout two Summer League games.
Richards showed his ability to finish at the rim efficiently, rebound and protect the rim during Summer League. His strong performance could put him in the mix to receive frontcourt minutes for the Hornets this season, though he'll have to compete with lottery pick Mark Williams, as well as P.J. Washington and Mason Plumlee. If Richards can crack the frontcourt rotation, he should be able to show off his defensive capabilities while receiving easy looks from LaMelo Ball. Ultimately, though, Richards is very much a wait-and-see player who shouldn't be drafted in most fantasy formats.
-
Neemias Queta SAC C
Kings' Neemias Queta: Defends well at Summer League
5d agoQueta averaged 12.8 points, 6.5 rebound, 1.5 assists and 2.8 blocks in four Summer League games.
Queta proved that he can be a high-quality rim protector while anchoring the Kings' defense in Vegas. He did have to leave one contest against the Pacers due to left calf soreness, but the injury doesn't look to be anything of real concern. The Kings finished 27th in defensive rating last season, so they certainly could use help on that end. The only other true shot-blocker on the team is Richaun Holmes, who missed the end of last season while dealing with a personal matter. All things considered, Queta will face an uphill battle toward making an impact at the NBA level, but he fared well enough at Summer League that the Kings may give him an extended look during the preseason.
-
Jay Huff LAL C
Lakers' Jay Huff: Inks Exhibit 10 with Lakers
5d agoHuff and the Lakers agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract Wednesday.
Huff went unselected in the 2021 NBA Draft but ended up seeing significant action in the G League for the South Bay Lakers. In 28 regular-season games (all starts), he averaged 15.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.1 assists in 25.9 minutes. He'll join the Lakers for camp but will probably see most of his action in the G League again next season.
-
Aron Baynes TOR C
Aron Baynes: To play in Australia
5d agoBaynes has agreed to a contract with the Brisbane Bullets of the Australian NBL, Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com reports. The contract has an NBA out, which will allow him to return to the NBA if he can find an interested team.
Baynes worked out for NBA teams in Las Vegas during Summer League, but he didn't find a suitor. He'll resume his playing career in the NBL with the hope of returning to the big league. Baynes was hospitalized for two months and needed to learn how to walk again following a spinal cord injury from a freak fall while playing for the Australian national team in the Tokyo Olympics last summer.
-
Christian Koloko TOR C
Raptors' Christian Koloko: Elite defensive showing
5d agoKoloko averaged 7.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 2.2 blocks and 1.0 assists in 22.1 minutes throughout five Summer League games.
While Koloko's offensive numbers are not eye-popping, his defensive ones certainly are. The 2022 No. 33 pick is in the perfect situation in Toronto. The Raptors have a history of developing second-round and undrafted players, especially ones with defensive versatility. Koloko will compete with Chris Boucher, who just re-signed on a three-year, $35 million deal this offseason, for frontcourt minutes off the bench.
-
Trevion Williams NBADRAFT C
Warriors' Trevion Williams: Inks Exhibit 10 with Golden State
9d agoWilliams and the Warriors agreed Friday to an Exhibit 10 contract, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Williams went unselected in last month's draft. The Purdue product played for the Celtics in Summer League, where he averaged 7.4 points and 6.6 rebounds in 14.2 minutes. There's a strong chance he ends up on the Warriors' G League squad.
-
Eric Paschall UTA PF
Timberwolves' Eric Paschall: Signs deal with Minnesota
3d agoPaschall agreed to a one-year, two-way deal with the Timberwolves on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
After averaging career lows across the board during his first and only season with Jazz, Paschall is aiming for a fresh start in Minnesota. The Timberwolves mark the third team that the Villanova product has played for in just his fourth season. Paschall is slated to compete against Kyle Anderson, Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels for playing time. The 25-year-old remains a weak fantasy option entering the 2022-23 season, especially since being on a two-way deal means he'll spend plenty of time in the G League.
-
Moses Wright DAL PF
Moses Wright: Signs overseas contract
4d agoWright has agreed to a deal with the Zhejiang Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Wright spent the last year on a two-way contract with the Mavericks, but the 6-foot-9 center is slated to play overseas in China for the upcoming season. The Georgia Tech product averaged 19.7 points and 9.3 rebounds across his 29 total appearances in the G League last year.
-
Keegan Murray NBADRAFT PF
Kings' Keegan Murray: Undergoes minor surgery
4d agoMurray recently underwent a minor procedure on his wrist but it will not impact his rookie season, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
Murray is expected to make a quick and full recovery from the minor procedure, as he's already been seen shooting with his left hand since the surgery. The surgery is not expected to impact his regular-season debut.
-
Sandro Mamukelashvili MIL PF
Bucks' Sandro Mamukelashvili: All-around performance
4d agoMamukelashvili averaged 17.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks in five Summer League games.
Mamukelashvili showed diversity in his skillset throughout the Summer League, hitting 47.6 percent of his shots from three on 4.2 attempts as a big man while also providing solid defense. Outside of Bobby Portis, the Bucks do not have a lot of reliable bench options in their frontcourt. If Mamukelashvili continues to stretch the floor well, he could beat out Serge Ibaka for the second frontcourt player off the bench.
-
Cole Swider LAL PF
Lakers' Cole Swider: Efficient outside shooting
5d agoSwider averaged 15.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists in five Summer League games.
Swider shot the ball extremely well from the three-point line, eclipsing 50 percent on 7.6 attempts per game. Although it will be difficult for him to crack a veteran-heavy rotation as an undrafted rookie, his shooting prowess could be enough to earn minutes at some point this season. The Lakers will likely want to surround LeBron James and Anthony Davis with more shooters than last season, when they finished 22nd in three-point percentage and 18th in three-point makes. Austin Reaves received meaningful minutes last season as an undrafted rookie and Alex Caruso flourished as well a few seasons prior, so it is far from impossible.
-
Bruno Fernando HOU PF
Rockets' Bruno Fernando: Inking Exhibit 10 deal with Rockets
6d agoFernando is re-signing with the Rockets on an Exhibit 10 contract, Kelly Iko of The Athletic reports.
Per Iko, Fernando will get an opportunity to compete in training camp with the hopes of landing the final two-way contract available for Houston. Fernando appeared in 10 games for the Rockets last season, averaging 6.9 points and 4.0 rebounds over 9.4 minutes per contest.
-
Arnoldas Kulboka CHA SF
Arnoldas Kulboka: Heading to Greece
4d agoKulboka has signed with a team in Greece, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Kulboka spent most of the 2021-22 season in the G League but appeared in two games with the Hornets. He'll attempt to carve out a role overseas during the 2022-23 campaign.
-
Iggy Brazdeikis ORL SF
Ignas Brazdeikis: Heading overseas
4d agoBrazdeikis has signed with a team in Lithuania, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Brazdeikis appeared in a career-high 43 games for the Magic last year but averaged just 4.9 points and 1.7 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game. After spending the last three seasons with the Knicks and Magic, the 23-year-old will attempt to carve out a role overseas.
-
Michael Porter Jr. DEN SF
Nuggets' Michael Porter: Expected to be ready for season
4d agoNuggets general manager Calvin Booth intimated Monday that he believes Porter (back) will be healthy for the start of the season, Sam Amico of Hoops Wire reports.
After undergoing lumbar spine surgery Dec. 1 -- his third back procedure in just over four years -- Porter had initially targeted a return to the lineup at some point in March. However, Porter's timeline for playing was pushed back due to a setback, which was a result of overwork rather than an aggravation of the back issue. It's not surprising he'll be healthy for camp -- anything else would be a serious concern -- but fantasy managers have to exercise extreme caution when considering Porter on draft day. The promising forward fell into the lap of the Nuggets during the 2018 Draft due to injury concerns, and those concerns have proven valid. In 2020-21, he ranked 41st in eight-category fantasy leagues on a per-game basis, but the fact is, he's played just 125 games in four years.
-
Jordan Hall NBADRAFT SF
Spurs' Jordan Hall: Contract upgraded to two-way
9d agoHall and the Spurs agreed to a two-way deal Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Hall was previously on an Exhibit 10 deal with the Spurs signed in late June. He appeared in five Summer League games and averaged 3.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 14.1 minutes. That was enough for the Spurs to essentially lock him into a G League roster spot, and he should see occasional playing time in the NBA as well.
-
Franz Wagner ORL SF
Magic's Franz Wagner: Playing in FIBA tournament
13d agoWagner (ankle) is included on Germany's 16-man preliminary roster for the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 tournament.
Wagner's inclusion on the roster confirms he's made a full recovery from the minor ankle injury that kept him sidelined for the Magic's final two games of the regular season. The 21-year-old forward averaged 15.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.2 three-pointers and 0.9 steals in 30.7 minutes per contest as a rookie, but Wagner could have to sacrifice some touches on the offensive end in his second season with the Magic adding No. 1 overall pick Paolo Banchero to the frontcourt in 2022-23.
-
Greg Brown POR SF
Trail Blazers' Greg Brown: Sidelined due to illness
15d agoBrown has been ruled out for Sunday's Summer League finale due an illness, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
Brown played 21 minutes and totaled nine points (3-5 FG, 3-3 FT), six rebounds and three blocks during Friday's contest and has been a key player during Summer League. In his absence, rookie second-round pick Jabari Walker will likely garner an increased role during the finale.
-

Pistons' Rodney McGruder: Re-signs with Detroit
24m agoMcGruder agreed to a contract extension with the Pistons on Monday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
McGruder will be staying in Detroit for at least one more season, as the Kansas State product tallied 5.4 points and 2.2 assists across 51 games played last year. The 2022-23 season will mark the guard's third straight with the Pistons. McGruder's new deal is reportedly for one year.
-
Kendrick Nunn LAL SG
Lakers' Kendrick Nunn: Says he's fully healthy
3d agoNunn (knee) said Tuesday that he feels 100 percent healthy, per Spectrum SportsNet.
Nunn missed all of 2021-22 due to a right knee injury suffered in the preseason. Unsurprisingly, he exercised his player option for 2022-23 and is expected to be a part of the Lakers' plans for this upcoming season. Two seasons ago with Miami, he saw 29.5 minutes per game and averaged 14.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He's expected to fight for backup guard minutes this season with Austin Reaves, Lonnie Walker and others.
-
Yves Pons MEM SG
Yves Pons: Inks deal to play overseas
4d agoPons has signed with a team in France, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Pons played a minimal role for the Grizzlies during the 2021-22 season, averaging 1.1 points in 5.9 minutes per game over 12 appearances. He'll attempt to secure a larger role overseas.
-
Jay Scrubb LAC SG
Jay Scrubb: Cut loose by Clippers
5d agoThe Clippers waived Scrubbs on Wednesday, Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com reports.
Scrubb joined the Clippers for Summer League with hopes of nabbing one of the final roster spots. Unfortunately, he was unable to secure one of the final bench roles and he's now free to search for work elsewhere.
-
Tyler Dorsey DAL SG
Mavericks' Tyler Dorsey: Signs two-way contract with Dallas
8d agoDorsey signed a two-way contract with the Mavericks on Sunday.
Dorsey spent last season playing for Olympiacos Piraeus and earned Greek Cup MVP honors after leading his squad to the Greek League Title. In EuroLeague action, the 6-foot-5 guard averaged 12.8 points on 44.3 percent shooting across 38 games. He was drafted by the Hawks in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft and was later traded to the Grizzlies. Dorsey has appeared in 104 career NBA games (16 starts), posting 6.7 points and 2.3 rebounds across 16.1 minutes.
-
Jalen Suggs ORL SG
Magic's Jalen Suggs: Resumes shooting, running
9d agoSuggs (ankle) has progressed to shooting and running but has yet to be cleared for full contact or five-on-five work, Theo Lawson of The Spokesman-Review reports.
Suggs missed 11 of the Magic's final 13 games due to an ankle issue that required surgery in early May. Had he not been recovering, Suggs likely would have played in Summer League. His rookie campaign was a bit disappointing, with the Gonzaga product averaging 11.8 points on 36.1 percent shooting, 4.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 27.2 minutes. It seems likely Suggs will be available for training camp.
