Travon Walker DL, UGA

Height: 6-5, Weight: 275

This is purely a projection. They need edge help, but he plays more like a down 5-technique. He’s a good player, a tough player, a physical player, but he isn’t an explosive rusher. They can pair him with Josh Allen, but I would have gone offensive lineman here. (Pete Prisco)

B-

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 90.06 (All-Pro)

Pro Comparison: Arik Armstead

Strengths:

Tall, long, well-built EDGE who uses his long arms to his advantage on nearly every snap. Sturdy edge-setting and can disengage because blockers rarely get into his frame. Thickness stands out on film and against the run. Not easily moved whatsoever. Tweener type who will probably be best inside in obvious passing scenarios. Strength will help him quickly acclimate to the NFL.

Weaknesses:

Good burst for his size, but not a suddenness specimen. Lacks pass-rush moves. Really just tries to bull his way into the QB/backfield. Minimal bend around the corner.

Accolades:

  • 2021: Career-highs in TFL (7.5) and sacks (6.0)
  • 2021: Started all 15 games at DT for CFP national champ

Aidan Hutchinson EDGE, MICH

Height: 6-6, Weight: 265

They need a pass rusher in the worst way, and they have to be thrilled that Hutchinson fell to them here. He is a polished edge rusher who will be an impact player right away. The Lions have to be able to impact the quarterback better than they did last year. Hutchinson will do that. But he might be a 12-sack guy most of his career, rather than a 16-sack guy. But that’s OK. (Pete Prisco)

B+

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 93.23 (All-Pro)

Pro Comparison: Jared Allen

Strengths:

Edge rusher with great combination of size, speed and strength. Capable of winning with speed and power. Displays fast, effective hands. Constantly working towards the quarterback without getting too deep. High football IQ to exploit opponent's weaknesses. Developed inside moves to pair with corner rush.

Weaknesses:

Average closing speed and change of direction. Shorter arms that could lead to difficulty against offensive tackles with longer arms to re-route him. Lacks elite top-end speed. Strictly hand-in-the-dirt player, not going to drop back into coverage.

Accolades:

  • 2021: Ted Hendricks Award winner (best defensive end)

Derek Stingley Jr. CB, LSU

Height: 6-1, Weight: 190

This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. They play a defense that doesn’t put a premium on cornerback, yet they picked one over pass rusher. Stingley is an outstanding cover corner, but this is a little odd. Pass rusher or tackle was a better option. (Pete Prisco)

B

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 92.81 (All-Pro)

Pro Comparison: A.J. Terrell

Strengths:

Prototypical size, speed and athleticism to excel in man coverage. Willing to play downhill and make tackles in the backfield. Fights through blocks. Great hip fluidity to change directions across the field. Gets up to speed quickly. Great stop-start speed.

Weaknesses:

Injury history over the past two years is a concern. Below-average arm length. Inconsistent in run support. Tackling form is an issue.

Accolades:

Kayvon Thibodeaux EDGE, OREG

Height: 6-5, Weight: 258

He is the best pure pass rusher in this draft. He has the explosive ability the Giants badly need. The question with him now is his character. Does he love the game? But I think he will get past any of that talk and become a dominant edge player. I love this pick. (Pete Prisco)

A

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 92.8 (All-Pro)

Pro Comparison: Myles Garrett

Strengths:

Explosive, twitchy, powerfully built with strong hands and a quick first step. He explodes off the snap and if he gets a half-step on offensive tackle it's over. Quickly gets into body of offensive tackle and then uses speed-to-power -- plus hand usage -- to consistently create problems on the edge. Can flip his hips like a cornerback, open up and drop into coverage, then has the athleticism and leaping ability to clog throwing lanes on short and intermediate routes. Non-stop motor and freakish strength that can wear out offensive tackles.

Weaknesses:

Occasionally gives up the edge in run support, and can sometimes play outside of responsibilities while trying to make splash plays. Sometimes disappears for stretches -- he doesn't lose off the line of scrimmage but he could be more consistently dominant at times. That said, there's a lot to love about his game.

Accolades:

  • 2021: Unanimous All-America (7.0 sacks, 12.0 TFL in 10 games)

Ikem Ekwonu OL, NCST

Height: 6-4, Weight: 320

The Panthers played spinning tops at left tackle last year, so getting a tackle was a no brainer in this draft. I liked Evan Neal more, but I get this choice. Ekwonu needs to work on his pass protection some, but he is fixable. (Pete Prisco)

B+

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 91.03 (All-Pro)

Pro Comparison: Laremy Tunsil

Strengths:

Masher with serious twitch/striking ability. Mobility pops on film, and he creates a lot of torque to move defenders, even when on the move. Power is apparent. Very capable on reach blocks. Sustains them well, too. Possesses above-average recovery skills. As a compact blocker, he naturally is well balanced. Tackle first but has elite upside as OG.

Weaknesses:

Kick slide is short and well-balanced but could stand to cover more ground. Susceptible to inside moves as a pass blocker. Has some problems with longer rushers who get into his frame first.

Accolades:

  • 2021: Unanimous All-America (third in N.C. State history)
  • 2021: Three sacks allowed on 476 pass-blocking snaps

Evan Neal OL, BAMA

Height: 6-7, Weight: 350

The Giants land the best tackle in the draft. He will step in at right tackle and give them a nice pair of bookends with Andrew Thomas. They have to protect the quarterback better, and they will. He will be a long-time starter who goes to a lot of Pro Bowls. (Pete Prisco)

8

Drake London WR, USC

Height: 6-5, Weight: 210

London is a big receiver, but he doesn't run that well. This is a team that needed to add more speed. I would have taken Garrett Wilson in this spot. He would have given them more of an immediate impact. London is good. But there were better options. (Pete Prisco)

B-

For the second year in a row, the Falcons drafted a behemoth pass-catcher with a top-10 pick in the NFL Draft, bringing London to The A. The former USC wideout plays a lot like Kyle Pitts in that he's a wide-bodied target with a huge catch radius, similar to other big-man receivers with a basketball background. But London doesn't come with a sterling pedigree, only truly breaking out for the Trojans in 2021 when he was force-fed throws (11 catches per game). Atlanta's offense has significant question marks, including how London will do getting pushed into a learn-as-he-goes role. That will lead to growing pains, but it should also produce some good target volume, which is the name of the game in Fantasy for receivers. London will get picked in PPR seasonal leagues starting in Round 7 (Round 8 in non-PPR) as a borderline No. 3 option. He's a lock to be closer to Round 6 in dynasty start-ups and keeper leagues, and a choice between second and fifth overall in rookie-only drafts.

Charles Cross OL, MISSST

Height: 6-5, Weight: 310

They had a glaring hole at left tackle, so they had to get a left tackle. With the run on them, they end up with a player who is good in pass protection but needs work in the run game. If Seattle wants to run it better, they picked the wrong tackle. But he is good at protecting the quarterback. (Pete Prisco)

10

Garrett Wilson WR, OHIOST

Height: 6-0, Weight: 192

I love this pick. I know there was talk about trading this pick to get Deebo Samuel, but I love staying put and taking Wilson. He is a speed player who will help Zach Wilson in a big way. He’s fast and he will be a lot cheaper than Samuel. (Pete Prisco)

A

The Jets selected Wilson with the 10th overall pick in the NFL Draft out of Ohio State, and he has the chance to be the top weapon in New York's passing game this year. Wilson is worth drafting as early as Round 8 in seasonal leagues, and he should be a top-five overall pick in rookie-only drafts this season. Wilson should have the chance to start for the Jets right away, and we'll see how much Zach Wilson favors Garrett Wilson over Elijah Moore and Corey Davis. We like Garrett Wilson to be the No. 2 option in the passing game behind Moore, but that doesn't mean Wilson can't be a No. 3 Fantasy receiver this season -- or better. At Ohio State, Wilson had 143 receptions for 2,213 yards and 23 touchdowns on 207 career targets, and he has star potential. It might take time to show it in the NFL, but he's a good bench receiver to open the year who could eventually become a Fantasy starter.

Giving up all that arsenal to get Olave is risky if you ask me. Olave is a speed receiver who will complement Michael Thomas, but this is a lot to give up to get him. Jameis Winston will be happy, but I don't love this. The Saints must. (Pete Prisco)

C+

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 87.85 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Chris Godwin

Strengths:

Great top-end speed. Great route runner who does not tip off his break at the stem. Quick feet at the snap, which allows him to create good leverage. Does a great job tracking the ball over his shoulder and has been very productive for the Buckeyes in the red zone.

Weaknesses:

Thin-framed boundary receiver who needs to be more physical through his routes. Explosive testing was average to below average. Can do a better job of creating yards after the catch.

Jameson Williams WR, BAMA

Height: 6-2, Weight: 189

This is the best receiver in the draft. The Lions can wait to get him healthy. When he is healthy, he will be a dynamic playmaker. They made a bold move to go get him, but they did give up a bunch to get him. They better hope he is what they think he can become. I think he’s a star. (Pete Prisco)

B

The Lions liked Williams so much they traded back up into the top half of Round 1 for him, but his recovery from a torn ACL could keep him out until October. Without preseason hype to push his value up, Williams could end up as a screaming value if you have the bench space and patience to carry him. His breakout 2021 (1,572 yards, 19.9 yards per catch, 15 touchdowns in as many games) is undeniable as Williams consistently displayed incredible speed. It's that trait that puts him in the Tyreek Hill mold, except he's taller. Where Williams falters is that he struggled with physical defensive backs and also struggled to earn playing time after his high school days. It wasn't until he left his burial on the Ohio State depth chart that Williams found a chance to play. The other obvious issue? He's in Detroit, where quarterback Jared Goff isn't among the league's best deep-ball passers. Williams figures to be a stash-and-see receiver in seasonal leagues, taken with a pick in Round 11 or later. But it's a different story in Dynasty, where it wouldn't be a surprise to see Williams go as high as second overall. Last thing: the past two times we faded first-round draft picks at WR who missed all of August were Justin Jefferson and Odell Beckham Jr. Might not want to do the same with Williams.

Jordan Davis DL, UGA

Height: 6-6, Weight: 340

This is a heck of a pick for the Eagles. They needed to get a power player inside with age becoming a problem there. Davis will be a three-down player in the NFL, even if some don’t think he will be. The Eagles will be much better against the run -- that's for sure. (Pete Prisco)

B

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 89.07 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Brandon Williams

Strengths:

Classic oversized nose tackle who will make big defensive tackles look small on the field. Absolutely mammoth individual with length that matches his immense girth. Great athlete for his size. Has enough athleticism to get lateral on stretch runs. Block disengaging is, of course, a strength. Supreme pop on contact. Impressive closing speed in space on running backs. High floor, lower ceiling DT.

Weaknesses:

Not someone who'll win many battles with burst or quickness at the NFL level. Only good, not great against double teams because he can get a little high in those scenarios. Average pass-rush move arsenal. but does have a nice arm-over. Conditioning is good for his size, but he's unlikely to be an every-down defensive tackle.

Kyle Hamilton S, ND

Height: 6-4, Weight: 219

The Ravens will be getting a player who will help their back end right away. I like Hamilton, but I don't love him like most. He will have some problems in coverage, but they need to use him in a variety of ways to take advantage of his talents. He isn't Ed Reed. (Pete Prisco)

B-

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 92.84 (All-Pro)

Pro Comparison: Ed Reed

Strengths:

Ran in the 4.5s at the combine and then ran in the 4.7s at his pro day. On the surface, these numbers get your attention, but he's an example of playing faster in the game than in shorts and a t-shirt. Great in space, comes downhill with purpose, is a wrap-up tackler who will put the ball carrier on the ground. Can patrol deep center field with sideline-to-sideline speed, play in the box, and blitz from the slot and get to the quarterback in just a few long strides. Has a huge wingspan, which means if he doesn't get to the QB, he can get his hands up in passing lanes and be disruptive that way. High-level change-of-direction skills in short areas, which makes him hard to shake in coverage, and he can smother tight ends out in coverage and has the physicality to contest the football at the catch point.

Weaknesses:

Some NFL teams will have concerns about the slow 40 times, but the tape tells a different story. Needs to do a better job of fighting through WR blocks, and can sometimes lose his coverage responsibilities when playing out of the slot and be susceptible to big plays.

They get a player who can play right tackle or inside at guard. This is a team that needs a lot of help, and Green is a player who can step in and play right away. He is a good, physical player who fits what they want to do if he plays right tackle or guard. (Pete Prisco)

B+

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 87.89 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Dalton Risner

Strengths:

Excelled at tackle in college but could move inside in the NFL. Has long arms, athletic lower half and can dig out defensive ends to seal the edge in run support where he consistently sustains blocks. Patient and well-balanced in his pass sets, where he has a good anchor and is rarely pushed off his spot. Once he locks on it's hard for pass rushers to disengage, and he's a smooth combo-blocker who can drive defensive linemen off ball.

Weaknesses:

Sometimes can toe the line of holding in the run game, usually when trying to reach block. Can also get grabby when he's about to be beat in pass protection. Sometimes struggles to maintain blocks vs. strong and quick edge rushers, but that's not uncommon for any offensive tackle, though Green's NFL future is likely inside.

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 86.52 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Diontae Johnson

Strengths:

Smaller, slippery, deceptively good ball skills/catch radius wideout with sneaky speed. Body control is high end. Loose hips. Hands catches with ease. Runs super-sharp routes. Can make multiple cuts in a route to separate; that part of his game is NFL-ready.

Weaknesses:

Despite the looseness in his midsection and lower half, he's not a YAC specialist. His tiny frame will leave him susceptible against bigger, more physical corners. Faster than he is quick.

Accolades:

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 87.60 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Rodney Hudson

Strengths:

Grappler who wants to battle in the run game and has the strength to move people in it. Plays with high-end torque through the whistle. Could stand to add more weight to his frame. Very fundamentally sound in pass pro. Knee bend and hand work are very solid. Gives it his all to recover, although he's not flat-out beaten very often. Higher-floor type on the interior with some upside. Instant high-caliber starter.

Weaknesses:

Good, not great athlete when blocking on the move or when having to deal with a pass-rushing counter.

C+

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 89.88 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: A.J. Brown

Strengths:

Great combination of size and speed. Size allows him to bully smaller cornerbacks trying to press him at the line. Speed allows him to get around cornerbacks playing off. Does a great job of creating yardage after the catch. Great body control down the field. Soft hands. Uses his body to create separation like a power forward boxing out. Good foot quickness. Capable of throwing deep on a trick play. Great production over the past two years.

Weaknesses:

Primarily used in short-to-intermediate routes, so that limited his exposure to jump-ball opportunities. Average burst. Can improve his footwork into breaks. Disappointing combine testing.

A

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 87.80 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Derek Carr

Strengths:

Made huge strides during 2021 after being considered a Day 3 pick after his 2020 season. Consistently shows great touch on mid-range passes, and the ball comes out quickly and on time. Maximizes yards-after-catch possibility for his targets on short and intermediate routes. Good athlete who, when needed, can consistently win with his legs outside the pocket. Plays with confidence in the face of pressure while keeping his eyes downfield, and he'll stand in the pocket and deliver a strike. While he doesn't have an elite arm, he showed throughout the season that he has the ability to throw deep outs, and the ball had both velocity and accuracy.

Weaknesses:

His hand size -- the smallest among QBs since Michael Vick was drafted more than two decades ago -- will be an issue for some teams and not for others. Doesn't have an elite arm but can make every NFL throw. Sometimes has tunnel vision and misses open targets downfield and instead opts for checkdowns or looks to run. Sometimes his ball can lose steam on deep outs. Averaged more than 3.1 seconds per dropback at Pitt, and he'll lock onto a read even with other WRs coming open. Won't have that kind of time at the next level.

Accolades:

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 87.46 (Long-term starter)

Strengths:

Long, physical cornerback who is quick for his size. Can flip his hips, get out of breaks in short areas, and consistently make plays on the ball. Not only does he understand leverage, he does a good job of not letting wide receivers get across his face. Also shows good recovery ability when he gets beat off the snap, though he's very good at staying in phase and then beating the wide receiver to the spot on go routes.

Weaknesses:

Can sometimes get handsy at the top of his routes, and despite his frame, needs to do a better job getting off wide receiver blocks vs. the run. For as physical as he is throughout the route, physicality in the run game is not something Elam is comfortable with yet.

A

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 85.56 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Kelechi Osemele

Strengths:

Big, wide, ultra-physical blocker looking for a bar fight on every snap, and has the length, mass, quicks, and power to win just about all of them. For his size, he's nimble. Bounces around the field. Balance is pretty good there, but he almost exerts too much energy once he's engaged. Recovery skill is high-end. Oftentimes, it looks like he's beaten around the corner, but his gliding feet and strength keep the defender contained and pushed past the QB. Will toss defenders more so than any other blocker in this class. Menace in the ground game; devastating in that regard. Wants to drive defenders into the ground and does it often.

Weaknesses:

Technique needs a fair amount of work. Not a total project, but he has a tendency to get his hands wide in pass pro.

B

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 91.3 (All-Pro)

Pro Comparison: Jason Kelce

Strengths:

Slender-ish, very athletic, mauler type who can get to reaches and combo blocks most centers can only dream of. Battler on the inside who definitely likes to assert his will early in the down; that leads to devastating wins. There are many high-end pass-block wins on film where he mirrors awesomely because of his athleticism. Understands leverage. Screen blocking is the best I've ever seen for an offensive lineman at any position.

Weaknesses:

There are some off-balance misses in the run game and pass pro. Can/needs to add 10-15 pounds to his frame once he gets into the NFL. Run blocking is ahead of his pass blocking. Big, long NTs give him problems. Lacking length and weight. The former is very concerning.

This is great value this late in the draft. He fell down the board a lot further than most people thought. He fits with what Robert Saleh wants in his edge rushers. He's a late bloomer, but he will continue to get better. (Pete Prisco)

A

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 88.87 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Montez Sweat

Strengths:

Tall, long, active rusher with demonstrations of his best power when he can use his length to his advantage. Nasty one-arm bull rush. Moments of nice, efficient hand work but not a strength. Nasty edge setter/block defeater against the run. Flashed an occassional inside-out that's effective. Same with his spin.

Weaknesses:

Rushes are almost always high. Stalls out at the blocker more frequently than you'd like. Counter rushes aren't there yet. His inside move is great but doesn't use it often enough. Athleticism/bend are good, not great. Burst is there but won't consistently threaten NFL OTs with it.

Accolades:

  • 2021: ACC Defensive Player of the Year
  • 2021: Led ACC in TFL (18) and sacks (12)

Devin Lloyd LB, UTAH

Height: 6-3, Weight: 232

They made a bold move to go get him. I love this. He's a playmaking linebacker who can do a lot of things. Think Devin White in the Tampa Bay scheme. It works. Mike Caldwell will use him a lot of different ways (Pete Prisco)

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 88.60 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Fred Warner

Strengths:

Does a great job of using his hands to shed blocks. Has shown improvement in pass coverage. Good enough speed allowing him to play sideline to sideline. Physical player. Eyes trained on the ball.

Weaknesses:

Still a work in progress in coverage. Has room for improvement at identifying gap responsibilities. Has to get his feet moving quicker, be more proactive at times.

Accolades:

  • 2021: Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year
  • 2021: 22.0 TFL (second-most in FBS behind Will Anderson Jr.)

Devonte Wyatt DL, UGA

Height: 6-3, Weight: 315

This has a chance to be a special player. He had some character concerns, but he was productive on a good defense. I know Packers fans wanted a receiver here, but this is as player who can really help a defensive inside. I like it. (Pete Prisco)

B+

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 87.89 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Smaller Marcell Dareus

Strengths:

Large, wide-bodied dancing bear who wins with power, decently deceptive quicks, and some pass-rushing moves. Plays with astounding pop on first contact. Can play 1T if needed. Good bull rush but actually his hand work is more impressive. Occasionally will win through the line with his first step.

Weaknesses:

Not a tremendous run defender, and while he can get lateral across the line, his pursuit speed is only slightly above-average. Not a pass-rush move master. Mostly won with first-step quickness in college. He'll have to diversify his rushes in the NFL.

Accolades:

  • 2021: CFP national champion
  • 2021: All-America second team

Cole Strange OL, TNCHAT

They draft the replacement for Shaq Mason at right guard. This might be a little high for him, but it certainly fills a need. They get younger and cheaper. (Pete Prisco)

George Karlaftis EDGE, PURDUE

Height: 6-4, Weight: 275

I love this pick by the Chiefs. They needed to get pass rush help and this kid can help. He is a player who plays hard all the time. If they are to beat the Bills and the great passers in the AFC West, they have to get more pressure. This is a good pick (Pete Prisco)

A

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 87.9 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Ryan Kerrigan

Strengths:

Big, well-built, powerful, athletic rusher who loves the arm-over/swim and is decently effective with it. Has very close to an NFL defensive end body right now and could easily get more powerful. Doesn't have much else in his arsenal besides the swim. Best way to describe his lower half is sudden, relative to his thickness. Decently bendy, too. Very talented, great size, high-floor prospect with decent amount of upside. Very young.

Weaknesses:

Bull rush could be a lot better relative to his size and girth. Doesn't have much else in his arsenal besides the swim. Feels like he should be more productive given his gifts. A touch up and down. Some games dominant; others nearly invisible.

Accolades:

  • 2021: First-team All-Big Ten (50 pressures, third in Big Ten)
  • Career: 14.5 sacks, 29 TFL, 106 pressures in 27 games

Daxton Hill S, MICH

Height: 6-0, Weight: 192

They have contract issues with their safeties coming up, so this is a good pick. He also has the skill to play corner, which they also could use in terms of coverage help. He's a versatile player, which they love. To beat the Chiefs and the Bills and the AFC West, you better cover. (Pete Prisco)

Lewis Cine S, UGA

Height: 6-1, Weight: 200

They need a safety next to Harrison Smith and he's getting a little older. Cine is a good-looking player who will cover and hit you. He has the range you like in the back end. This is a good, solid pick (Pete Prisco)

B+

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 87.64 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Juan Thornhill

Strengths:

Ran a 4.38 40 with a 36.5 vertical at the combine, and that athleticism translated to the field for the Bulldogs. Good closing speed while staying under control, and while he's not a thumper he comes downhill with purpose vs. the run. Can cover like cornerback vs. shifty slot WRs and blankets bigger tight ends. Tackling machine in open field and he'll run through the intended target, usually as the ball is arriving.

Weaknesses:

Can get locked into his responsibilities to the point of having blinders on and can miss what's going on around him. Can be a half-step slow to diagnose the play and that leaves him at least a half-step out of position.

Accolades:

  • 2021: AP All-SEC first team
  • 2021: Defensive MVP of CFP title game

CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso gave the Brock Purdy selection a 'C+.'

"Long-time starter in college who got less effective as his career wore on. Rhythm passer with good accuracy when he's not disturbed in the pocket and despite minimal athleticism he creates when things break down. Arm is average."

CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso gave the A.J. Arcuri selection a 'C-.'

"Average-at-best athlete who will struggle with speed rushers at the next level. Anchor is quality because of his knee bend and natural strength. Run-blocking ability is slightly above average but not someone who's going to excel in space."

CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso gave the Zander Horvath selection a 'B-.'

"Explosive big back, built like a FB. Serious yards after contact type. Not a blocker. Dealt with injuries in college. Can cut and hit bigger plays than most runners his size."
